Shogayu Warming Tea

This is our version of a traditional Japanese tea used both to treat a cold or cough and to warm the body after being out in the cold. Honey not only coats and soothes irritated throat tissue but also protects against bacteria.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Steep green tea in 1 cup water for 5 minutes, then add honey and lemon juice.
  2. Variation: Warm Weather Green Tea Refresher
Prepare as directed, let cool and add ice cubes. Add a few very thin slices of ginger, cucumber and lemons OR a combination of thinly sliced ginger, blueberries and sliced strawberries and peaches. Allow to steep for 10 minutes before serving this refreshing beverage.

RECYCLE TIP: GREEN TEA BAG EYE TREATMENT

Squeeze the moisture out of 2 green tea bags, lie down and place one bag on each eye. Relax with bags in place for 10-15 minutes. The tannins and antioxidants in the green tea tighten the skin and reduce puffiness around the eyes as well as diminish dark circles.

Brain Booster Energy Tea

Forego coffee and choose green tea, with its more moderate level of caffeine, to counteract that mid-afternoon energy slump. Recent research suggests that this level of caffeine combined with green tea’s antioxidants and certain amino acids boosts mental alertness and focus and overall cognitive function while reducing mental fatigue.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Steep green tea in 1 cup water for 5 minutes then add remaining ingredients.
